Dining, Kitchen

Kristyn worked with long-time friends and their teenage children to design a family-friendly chef’s kitchen. The existing space was disconnected from the dining room which put family meals at a cramped table adjacent to the kitchen. By introducing a new opening from the kitchen, the clients gained the use of the dining room for daily meals together and replaced the small kitchen table with an elevated breakfast bar.

For the family of creatives, incorporating color into the design was a perfect fit. Custom, full-inset cabinets were painted a rich blue and paired with classic white subway tile and honed black granite.

In the dining room, the new opening is flanked by quarter-sawn oak built-ins stained to match the home’s existing millwork.
